Organized by AseBio and BIOVEGEN, it brought together the main actors in the sector to discuss the main challenges of the bioeconomy and the products obtained from it.
AlgaEnergy has participated in the session "Agri-food in the center of the bioeconomy", organized by the Spanish Bioindustry Association (AseBio) and the Spanish Technology Platform for Plant Biotechnology (BIOVEGEN). The meeting, that brought together the main agents in the sector (researchers, companies, civil society and administration), took place on the 27th of February at the headquarters of the European Commission in Madrid, with the aim of debating the main challenges of the bioeconomy and the products that are obtained from it.
AlgaEnergy was invited to participate in this conference together with other leading companies and organizations in the agri-food sector such as the National Institute for Agricultural and Food Research and Technology (INIA), the agrarian organization ASAJA or the company Bayer Crop Science, amongst others. Raschid Stoffel, Head of Food & Beverage of AlgaEnergy, showed attendees the immense potential of microalgae and the many properties of their extracts as innovative ingredients for the food industry. In this optimal scenario, Stoffel introduced AlgaeFood®, AlgaEnergy's range of microalgae-based foods and functional ingredients. METASIN, one of the R&D projects in the field of human nutrition in which the biotech company participates, also stood out. The main objective of this project is to research and develop active ingredients, foods and multifunctional food supplements ready to market, capable of influencing the pathologies and risk factors associated with the metabolic syndrome.
