This initiative, led by AlgaEnergy and supported by the Directorate-General for Environment of the European Union through the Life+ programme, is the first microalgae plant, worldwide, aimed at the capture and biofixation of carbon dioxide at pre-industrial scale, and it takes the CO2 from the flue gases emitted by Iberdrola's power plant in Arcos de la Frontera.
The first phase of the CO2ALGAEFIX project is now a reality. The European delegation responsible for monitoring the Life+ projects have visited Iberdrola's power plant in Arcos de la Frontera (Cadiz), where this project is being developed, in order to know first hand the facilities built for the mass cultivation of microalgae and its operation.
