Two important players in commercial aviation, Iberia and AENA, and the biotechnology company AlgaEnergy, have joined forces in a long term project which aims to achieve a renewable alternative to dependence of the planes on petrol through microalgae. At the same time, it would slow down the CO2 emissions caused by commercial aviation. AlgaEnergy, participated by Repsol and Iberdrola, will be in charge of the construction and operation of the experimentation plant in the vicinity of the Terminal 4 of Madrid-Barajas airport.
