Microalgae are considered a source of second generation biofuels production. Unlike agricultural crops, such as cereal, they do not come into conflict with food. Also they do not require arable soil, but grow in brackish or waste water.
AlgaEnergy has developed other fields related to microalgae, such as aquaculture, since the microalgae are the phytoplankton on which the fish feed until they reach a mature age.
