Great success of AlgaEnergy in its first participation at Macfrut
07 June, 2018Within the framework of this fair of reference for the horticultural sector in Europe, the biostimulants based on microalgae AgriAlgae® have obtained the 'Macfrut Innovation Award 2018'.
AlgaEnergy has participated for the first time at Macfrut, one of the most relevant fairs in the agricultural sector in Europe that took place from the 9th to the 11th of May in Rimini, Italy. The trade fair, which accumulates 35 editions, received this year more than 40,000 visitors and gathered the main players of the agri-food industry in the European continent.
In this optimal scenario, the company presented its value proposition for a more sustainable agriculture, based on an innovative and effective solution: the range of agricultural biostimulants based on microalgae, AgriAlgae®.
Macfrut Innovation Award 2018
The success of this first participation is not only confirmed by the number of visitors received at the stand -in which the technology and the R&D projects that AlgaEnergy leads were highlighted-, but also through the grant of the ‘Innovation Macfrut Award 2018’ by a Jury of experts. The award was collected by Miguel Rodríguez-Villa and Giuseppe Castellani, 
Expansion Manager of AlgaEnergy and Country Manager of AgriAlgae® in Italy, respectively.
The presence in this unmissable event is a good example of AlgaEnergy's interest in the Italian market. In this regard, Carlos Rodríguez-Villa, AlgaEnergy’s General Manager, highlights that "Italy is a mature market with a very professionalized horticultural sector, in which farmers and producers are quite used to apply biostimulants. In this framework, AlgaEnergy is in a privileged position in order to supply an innovative, competitive, sustainable and, above all, very effective biostimulant. The grant of the 'Macfrut Innovation Award 2018' is the best boost for our establishment in Italy, a key market in the context of our international expansion", adds Rodríguez-Villa.

Following an extensive restructuring, AlgaEnergy is proud to partner with DE SANGOSSE Group through a soon to be finalized deal that will enable a concentrated focus on its agricultural markets. Previous business verticals including cosmetics, bioenergy, aquaculture and nutraceuticals will be discontinued, allowing a single-minded focus on solutions for agricultural markets, specifically agribiological inputs (biostimulants, biofertilizers and biocontrol).

On November 16th, 2022 open voting for the Board of Directors of the European Biostimulants Industry Council (EBIC) took place, resulting in the election of AlgaEnergy’s Managing Director – Carlos Rodríguez-Villa as Vice President of the board – with 95 percent of the participatory vote.
