The project that will receive a higher funding from the EU is CO2Algaefix, with a total budget of nearly three million Euros and a grant of 1.5 million. The project is led by AlgaEnergy, a technology-based company that integrates Iberdrola, Repsol and researchers from universities such as Seville and Almeria. It will be located next to Iberdrola's combined cycle power plant in Arcos de la Frontera. This demonstration microalgae production plant will be built adjacent to that, and a new high efficiency photobioreactor will be tested and developed.
