AlgaEnergy and Tradecorp assume the Secretariat of EBIC’s working group ‘Task Force Spain’
04 December, 2018From this new role the companies are responsible for coordinating the working group of the European Biostimulants Industry Council (EBIC) for Spain.
From October 2018, AlgaEnergy and Tradecorp have assumed the rotating Secretariat of EBIC’s working group ‘Task Force Spain’. From this position both companies are responsible for coordinating the working group that represents the Spanish companies in assessing the progress made by other working groups specialized and participate in matters such as regulation and standardization, in order to agree on common positions and contribute to the sector’s development. These national groups are also EBIC’s interlocutors with the national institutions.
“The secretariat of Task Force Spain comes to Tradecorp and AlgaEnergy at a crucial moment, because the definitive text for the new European fertilizer legislation is currently being discussed at the Trilogue, which brings together the European Commission, the European Parliament and the European Council,” stated Irene Sobrado, European Regulatory Manager at Tradecorp. "Given these circumstances, Tradecorp is optimistic that a consensus for the future fertilizer regulation that defines the European legislative framework for biostimulant products will be reached before the European Parliament elections in May 2019,” added Sobrado.
"We assume the Secretariat of EBIC’s working group ‘Task Force Spain’ with pride and responsibility, as it is a crucial moment for the development of a clear and unified European Fertilizer market, and specifically crucial for the biostimulants. We have the mission of supporting the development of this regulatory precedent that is already a reference worldwide, and we expect to fulfill our objective", adds Estefanía Hinarejos, AlgaEnergy’s Regulatory Affairs Manager.

The European Biostimulants Industry Council (EBIC) was founded in 2011 and currently has 55 members internationally. The organization’s focus is to foster the role of the biostimulants sector in Europe in helping agriculture to be more sustainable and to push an appropriate regulation for biostimulant products within the framework of the incoming European fertilizing products Regulation.
