The event was held in Seville on January 17th
During his discourse, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, Ricardo Domínguez, spoke about the importance of bioeconomy and circular economy in Andalusia, highlighting the need of taking advantage of the resources offered by the region, specially emphasizing the growing opportunities created by the use of microalgae biomass, among other resources.
Through new processes and technologies it is possible to increase the productivity of the Andalusian economy and to face challenges such as climate change, the reduction of fossil fuel consumption, among other also important issues.
Andalusia has been selected, along with five other regions (in The Netherlands, Slovakia, United Kingdom, Ireland and Belgium), to develop the "Model Region in Sustainable Chemistry Project", underlining the role of agro-industry within a bio-economy model.
