Organized by the Spanish Bioindustry Association (AseBio), the meeting was attended by Katerina Fortun, from the Directorate General for Climate Action of the European Commission.
AlgaEnergy, world leader in microalgae biotechnology, was invited to participate on the 15th of June in a meeting of the Ambassadors for the European Climate Pact in Spain with the European Commission, represented by Katerina Fortun, from the General Directorate for Climate Action, who took advantage of this framework to explain to the attendees the current situation of the European Climate Pact and the importance of small actions and joint promises.
The meeting, organized by the Spanish Bioindustry Association (AseBio), aimed to share experiences, exchange knowledge and update issues related to the European Climate Pact. María Segura, Deputy General Manager of AlgaEnergy, participated in the meeting to present the business model of the biotechnology company, which is sustainable and based on the circular economy thanks to the recovery of CO2 in biomass with application and positive impact in various sectors, including agriculture, by reducing the consumption of water and chemical fertilizers.
Segura also explained all the initiatives that are being carried out in order to promote awareness of climate change, have a positive impact on the environment and disseminate actions that can be implemented at the business level, including compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals, offsetting the carbon footprint through the EIC's Greenhouse Gas Program tool, adherence to initiatives that support environmental solutions through specific actions, and certification like BCorp, among others.
